The Street Food Festival was organized by Kurumba's staff committee, which kept guests and staff entertained throughout the event with delicious food from all over the world, as well as a fun musical performance.

In addition, our chefs and crew have prepared national dishes from the Maldives, Russia, South Asia, and North Africa, which have come together to form the Street Food Festival to celebrate its 45th anniversary.

As for the media, it covered the event by taking pictures and videos.

Kurumba is celebrating its 45th anniversary this year, knowing that it was the first private island resort in the Maldives, having opened its doors in 1972 in the Maldives archipelago located on the Indian Ocean.

Kurumba, which was an uninhabited coconut-planted island when it was opened by four young Maldives in October 1972, marked the beginning of the country's tourism sector.

At that time, the Maldives was isolated, communicating with the outside world only through amateur radio, and had no telephones, electrical supplies, or water mains, and only a few cars.

As for the roads, they were not paved, and there was only a runway built by volunteers.

Kurumba looked like only 30 huts built of coral and thatch and beautiful coconut leaves. The first visitors were barefoot travelers looking for the best sand, sea, and sun.

At that time, the Maldivian hosts prepared the food informally. Today, people from the Maldives still own and manage the resort.

In 1972, 1,000 tourists visited the Maldives, and in 2016, 1.4 million tourists stayed in more than 117 resorts across the Maldives.

Kurumba Maldives is located on one of the best tropical islands in the North Male Atoll, a 10-minute speedboat ride from the airport in the Maldives.

Kurumba relies mainly on its rich history and charm, as well as on honest service to offer the best diverse, attractive, and eye-catching experiences amidst an amazing island.

The resort offers a choice of eight accommodation styles ranging from comfortable Superior rooms to expansive Royal residences scattered among lush tropical island gardens with easy access to the beach not to mention the eight restaurants and four bars to choose from.

Kurumba Maldives will enchant you with its incomparable dining options and a wide range of leisure activities and entertainment.

All this while maintaining perfect spaces for relaxation to create the perfect balance of a paradise island vacation that is suitable for honeymooners and families alike.
